The 37th annual Medina County Home & Garden Show on March 2 & 3 at the Medina County Community Center, presented by Fixler Roofing, will spotlight the approaching total solar eclipse expected to darken Medina County on April 8 with fascinating presentations about the eclipse and the universe.
The “Star Gazing in the Woods” themed Main Garden, which is creatively designed and built by Greenkeepers Lawn & Landscaping, will feature a cabin set up for star gazing and demonstrations by the Cuyahoga Astronomical Association. Speakers will present fascinating information about the eclipse on the Presentation Stage sponsored by Renewal by Andersen as well as home and gardening tips. Medina County District Library will have take-it /make-it crafts and solar eclipse resource information.
The first 200 paid attendees each day will receive certified approved solar eclipse glasses to prepare for the eclipse.
Visitors to the show will be able to meet face-to-face with more than 100 of the best local home improvement and landscaping experts to find the perfect choice for their home projects.

11am Composting - Mother Nature Recycles

If you ever wanted to try composting or learn what’s involved, this is
for you. This is an introduction to composting for those that have little to no experience composting or those who have tried it, but with unsatisfactory results. Topics include, what is compost, what you need and how to make compost, what to/not to compost, and different composting methods.
12pm All About Yarrow, the 2024 Herb of the Year
Medina County Herb Society
Learn about this native and versatile herb along with its uses in your garden and in your home. Seed packets will be given out.
1pm Why is This Eclipse Special?
Jay Reynolds, Astronomer, The Cuyahoga Astronomical Association
Solar Eclipses have always captivated humans. Once seen, they are literally life changing! Jay explains how this upcoming solar eclipse has unique qualities, which will inspire eclipse chasers from around the world to come to Northeastern Ohio!

However, did you know that some of Ohio’s most important, as well as abundant pollinators, are moths? Join Medina County SWCD to learn about some of these moths and how to design a garden for night time pollinators!

There are lots of native wildflowers that enjoy full sun, but what about shady situations and woodland gardens? Molly will introduce many native plants to grow in your shady areas and woodland edge areas. Her emphasis will be on the benefits of these plants to pollinators, birds and butterflies.
